ASC Celebrates 35th Birthday
The Astrological Society of Connecticut is one of the nation’s longest standing and largest local astrology groups. Founded in 1972 (the same year Connecticut’s old "blue law" banning astrology – and psychology! – was overturned), the group has a long history of providing education and a sense of community for metaphysically minded people from Connecticut and beyond. There are 100+ members come from all walks of life and range from those with a more than passing interest in astrology to professional astrologers in practice. Each year, they bring in top astrologers from around the country and present lectures and day-long workshops on a wide variety of astrologically-related topics and sometimes on other metaphysical subjects, as well. The ASC Speakers Bureau offers lecturers to groups and educational institutions interested in learning a little something about astrology or about life from an astrological viewpoint.
Based in Wethersfield, the ASC’s lectures are at the Keeney Cultural Center, where they also hold their quarterly New Age Fairs. Workshops are held at Wesleyan University. For information, leave a message on the ASC’s InfoLine (860-568-8617) or visit their website at www.myasc.org , where you’ll find their programs, membership directory, directions and New Age Fair dates. On Thursday, Oct. 18, the society celebrates their 35th birthday with a special reception at 6:00 pm prior to their 7:00 pm lecture on lunar phases with Dietrich Pessin, known for her weekly radio show in the Boston area (available on www.lunar-shadows.com).
