In August 2000, long-time ASC member and part-time astrologer, Phil Russell, passed away after complications from surgery for a brain tumor. His family wanted to start a scholarship fund in his honor. Thus began the Phil Russell Memorial Scholarship Fund, known as the Phil Fund, for short. There were initial contributions immediately after his death, followed by used book sales. The fund is endowed to perpetually offer a scholarship to an ASC workshop each fall, close to Phil’s Scorpio birthday on Nov. 20. Phil used to say, "I’d like to go to the workshop, but I don’t have the money." If you find yourself in that position, Phil would like to pay your way. (Email PhilFund@myasc.org.)
