James Santa-Mo, President 2005-2007 – Memories of Recent Times Past
I keep a daily diary: when I became president on June 16, 2005 my entry was "interesting
new experience". This minimal use of words said much: I wanted to approach the way I saw the
ASC as a chance to be Uranian in the best sense of the term. I kept thinking this theme in my mind's eye for roughly four or five months to be quietly Uranian! But Uranus surprised me as usual!
On my way to a board meeting one Thursday night, I suddenly realized that my role was to be that of a safe stabilizing "figure-head" rather than being a " mover and shaker". The nice thing about the overall structure of the ASC is term limitations for all board members. Limitations is, of course, a Saturn word and I grew over a two year period to accept my personal limitations.
I was deeply concerned about our financial situation and felt Saturn saying very loudly "know your limitations." Fortunately, with the help of the combined efforts of our membership we were able to stabilize this area to continue to serve the astrological needs of everyone. For me at the end of my term I recalled my diary entry: I now simply see my period as president as many interesting new experiences!
