NOMINATIONS & ELECTIONS

The new slate of officers and board was presented at the April Lecture and will be voted on at the May lecture.  Please plan on attending the annual meeting prior to May's lecture to keep up with how the ASC is doing financially and to see who will be guiding the ASC next year!

LECTURE

MAY SPEAKER ELAINE KUZMESKUS

ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING AT 7:00 PRIOR TO LECTURE

Lecture May 15, 2008 7:00 pm

Healing Cycles of the Planets

Hippocrates, Paracelsus and Jung all used astrology to treat patients. Edgar Cayce, "the sleeping prophet," also advised the use of astrology to better understand the soul’s purpose and the healing process. All these great Western healers used astrology as both a diagnostic and predictive tool. Astrology is especially important in timing critical illness. In this lecture, Elaine Kuzmeskus discusses healing cycles of the planets, how the planets affect health and how a horoscope can aid in understanding mental imbalances. She’ll also explain how to bring greater harmony into your life through astrology.

Elaine Kuzmeskus, Director of the New England School of Metaphysics, was certified as a professional astrologer by the American Federation of Astrologers in 1974. Since then, she has been teaching astrology throughout New England. She maintains an astrology practice in Suffield, CT and is the author of Soul Cycles and Connecticut Ghosts

Elaine’s website is: Newenglandschoolofmetaphysics.citymax.com

See our full program here.  ASC PROGRAM

We wish to encourage more new people to attend our lectures. We are, therefore, continuing the policy that we started last year, whereby ANYONE who has never attended an ASC lecture before may attend his/her first pre-lecture and lecture for free.

As always, if a non-member pays the lecture fee to attend a lecture as a guest, and subsequently decides to join the ASC within the next month, their lecture fee will be applied towards their membership.

And also as always... pre-lecture and lecture fees are 1/2 price for students with a current student ID from any educational institution.

PRE-LECTURE

May:  Pat Peabody

A senior member of the ASC will conduct the Pre-Lecture at 6 pm. Terms and concepts likely to be encountered in the lecture will be presented. Also discussed are other topics to help beginners build a solid astrological foundation. Admission is free for ASC members and first-time visitors, and $5 for non-members (in addition to the $10 non-member lecture fee). Students admitted for half price with any valid student ID.

WORKSHOP

None this month.

THE OTHER SOLSTICE HOLIDAY PARTY

Remember the date: June 19, 2008.

Everyone was sad to see the winter storm cancel our holiday potluck dinner and evening with Hand Reading specialist, Laurence Carabine. So, good news! The ASC Board has decided to celebrate the "other" solstice by rescheduling the lecture and potluck dinner for June 19, 2008. This longest evening of the year is a wonderful time for astrologers to get together and share. So, get out your recipes for summer's induction! Put it on your calendar now!

Contact:  membership@myasc.org, 203.729.2674.

Hello everyone!

As of May 10, we currently have 122 active members, comprised of:
15 Honorary (seven of whom have paid dues…..thank you!)
90 Renewals from last year's members
5 Returning former members
12 New members

There is one member 5-year-multiple anniversary this month: John Marchesella is celebrating 5 years as a member of the ASC.   Congratulations to John!

For the last couple of years, the ASC has offered an incentive bonus for members who sent in their renewals BEFORE the season's first lecture.  We are repeating this offer for the 2008-2009 season. The bonus card that is sent to each member who takes advantge of the early renewal offers three choices:  half-price on an astrological reading at one of our New Age Fairs; $5 off the already-discounted price for members to one of the ASC's workshops; or a free lecture guest-pass which can be given to someone as a gift.  Membership renewal forms for 2008-2009 will be available to be picked up at the upcoming May and June lecture meetings.

As Membership Chair, one of my many jobs is to try to make sure that we are addressing the needs and wants of the membership. If you have any ideas or suggestions for improvements, or any constructive criticism, please write, call, or e-mail me and let me know what’s on your mind.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or otherwise, please call, write, or e-mail me. We are glad that you have joined us again for another fun, educational, and inspirational season, and I look forward to seeing you at one of our lectures or hearing from you!

GET INVOLVED

Joy MacDonald & Dave Drinnan

THANK YOU!
Gevera Bert Piedmont:
The ASC Board would like to extend a belated thanks to Gevera for her much appreciated volunteer role as ASC e-newsletter editor over the past few years.  Her last edition was December 2007.  Thanks, Gevera!

DISTRIBUTE FLYERS: If you can help distribute ASC programs or New Age Fair flyers for us, or if you can provide us with the name/address of a location where we could drop some of them off, please let us know! Brochures are available for distribution, and we would love to have new places and people for drop off. Just contact Joy MacDonald or anyone else on the Board! We would like them placed in colleges, high schools, libraries, health food stores, herb shops, metaphysics stores, bookstores, etc. We would especially like to attract more young astrologers.

LEND A HAND: We have ideas we would like to try, but we need some additional help to turn these ideas into realities. If you would like to volunteer to help out in any number of ways (large or small, regularly or occasionally – all help will be appreciated), please be sure to let us know! We’d love having you work with us!
